Dot Regulations On Hydrostatically testing Cylinders
Hey guys!
What are the laws/regulations concerning "hydrostatically testing tanks"
According to the DOT they are required to be tested every five years..as we
are led to believe.
However, I have read in the Oxygen Hackers Guide by Vance Harlow, that this
only pertains to tanks transported in a commercial vehicle across state lines.

Shutter Sticks in Waterproof Case
Hello-
When I scuba my Canon camera is enclosed in a WP-DC5 waterproof case.
Sometime the button for the shutter sticks in a half way down position.
I always clean the case in fresh water and I have also tried injecting
silicone grease into the lubricating slot of that button but it still
sticks sometimes.

Long term maintainability of the ScubaPro Mk15 first stage?
Local shop has been having some problems with doing this year's
rebuild.
Apparently, some sort of harmonic vibration inside ... eg, piston-
spring.
Its gone back to the ScubaPro factory for a lookie-see. Reportedly,
if they can't rebuild it, a Mk25 might be sent back.
I wouldn't mind the upgrade, but was wondering if anyone else has had

Regulators/BCs in Check-in Luggage
Is it okay to put your regulator/dive computer/BC in luggage that is going to
be checked in and be in the cargo area of a jetliner? I'm guessing that if
the cargo area is pressurized, you don't need to worry about it. Thanks.

I have had a Cressi-Sub Aqualight-R which I think is a great BCD for
traveling andf because it has a lot of features like large pockets,
double tank bands, carrying handle and is stable on the water surface.
My ONLY complaint is the weight release system which is the "fall away"
gravity type weight holding pocket. It's in excellent condition.

advice on HOODS !
I'm looking at getting a hood to go with my 7mm wetsuit to dive the colder
water of Victoria, AUSTRALIA.
The thing is, I really don't like wearing hoods.....I hate chocking
feeling,and limiting flexability...like probably most people do...

Compass calibration ?
How important is it to have a compass calibrated to the Southern Hemisphere
( for mainly diving locally in Asut )...as opossed to one calibrated to the
Northern hemisphere ?
I've heard you just need to angle the later slightly when using it, as the
"pole" is pulled downward causing it to stick sometimes...

Well, it has come to that sad time when i must pack up my dive gear and
head off to college. This is probably a long term pack up, and i was
wondering if there is any specific way to do this thats better than
another (ie wetsuit needs to be kept hanging rather than put into a
large plastic tub). Also, is there anyone in the central ohio area

Just about to buy a wetsuit, looking at full 7mm for Victoria ( Australian )
waters mainly.
It has since occured to me to consider the option of a 5mm full suit, with
an added vest (probably hooded).
I think the last wetsuit I hired on my OW course was actually a 7/5 anyway
