Opinions on the CRESSI-SUB MINIMA and Big Eyes masks
I was looking at the Minima and Big Eyes masks and was wondering if anyone out there owns one or has an educated opinion. I own a Focus which I love but was interested in something new and different. My primary concerns (beyond fit) are squeeze, comfort and visibility. Thanks for any opinions. VETMANSHU

Re: Looking for info...
Hi, Nitrox has a few benefits, including not being as fatigued after a few dives in the same day. It will also let you stay underwater longer. The only down side to Nitrox in my opinion is air fills/rents tend to cost a few bucks more. It seems strange that your local shops are offering both these classes

Re: Looking for info...
Hello Skychick, I am not sure what your goals are in SCUBA, but you probably do not need to learn Nitrox right off the bat. I would recommend you complete the basic open water training first; get comfortable with the basics, and learn Nitrox later. Nitrox is not essential, but rather an alternative that has benefits

Looking for info...
Hello, I've been looking for information about learning to Scuba. Obviously I have done the standard searches online etc and have had a few emails from various companies and dive schools. I know that I would like to do the PADI Open water, but I keep seeing the course with/without 'Nitrox'. After reading a bit online about

For my final year dissertation and collection I plan to raise awareness of the dangers that (ignorant)scuba divers cause when diving by creating an apres scuba range-much like aprse ski. What do you feel about fashion and diving, ie on the boat, off the boat beers after. Also everyday wear-what is your scuba fashion attitude if any at all??

Searching for Scuba Diving Buddies
We are looking for dive buddies who might be interested in sharing an inexpensive live aboard trip to Andros Island in May or early June of this year. The intro trip will be $700.00 per person for one week. There is no touring, only scuba diving. If bought in groups of 10 or more, we can go to $550.00 per person. There is also a contest to name

Re: Scuba resort design
Don't know if you use drysuits there, but the biggest complaint I have with most changing rooms is a wet floor. If I am changing into a drysuit and the socks get wet and then I have wet, cold feet during the dive. Then when I change back into civies, socks get wet again. You need one of those rubber

Scuba resort design
Hello Group, I am in the process of purchasing an Inland scuba park and need some input on the best design of restrooms, showers, lockers ect. I am looking for all type of ideas. If you had the opportunity to design a scuba park how would you do it? It has a nice clear lake and a modest dive shop but the restrooms and showers need total rehab.

Red Sea Diving Site Waypoints
Hi everyone, I'm trying to create a comprehensive GIS project for dive sites (reefs, wrecks and other interesting underwater geographical features) in the Red Sea, but I'm having a hell of a time finding GPS coordinates for the individual sites. Re: Post your Scariest Dive Experience!
k, this is a cool one - as most "tell me about your most ..." stuff is. This one time I was freedivng in the southwest coast of portugal. I had this floating signaling device with a cable ruuning down to my hand, just to keep some small fishing boats warned about me. I went into a small cave at a depth of some 9, 10 meters max, I so this

Diving with a knee injury
I'm curious as to if any of you out there have gone diving with a knee injury. I suffered a hairline fracture to my fibula (right below the knee) about a week ago and have a trip scheduled for Belize in two weeks. Recovery time from my doc is 4 - 6 weeks, which would put me in Belize at week 3. Right now I'm in a large, hinged knee brace,

Re: New member
Hi, After diving in Hawaii and Micronesia for nearly 30 years, nothing in Maryland seems very thrilling. In Micronesia I was in a club that had its own compressor. Unlimited air for $50 per year. 21-foot Boston Whalers rented for $4 per hour. We had great wall diving within 15 minutes of the marina, as well as around 20 Japanese wrecks from WW II.

Re: Intro
I would say - it really depends on the hurricanes. This year seems to be off to an interesting start. Also, I would say off season would be something to consider. What do others think about this? Good Luck.

Re: New member
Ok - I'll bite, why aren't you diving any more. I mean what part of the US are you living in? Why give up. Teach. Your years of experience should ammount for something... I would think. I don't know. Publish something - your history or a dive adventure - there has to be a way to continue on. Ok. I am not a cheerleader, just

Yes. Depending on his cert level - he needs to dive "Wreck Alley". Also, I would recommend a Channel Islands trip and spending a weekend at Catalina. Great spots and tons of fun. Getting into a dive club would be good for both of you as well. I run a scuba and snorkel dive club and can't tell you all the interesting things seen. Even at a

New to the group
Greetings all. I am new to the area in Placerville, CA. I am starting a club up here. I have all the paperwork in. and would like to know if there are any divers up here. All, I only today learned about Google groups, so I chose to join this one. I started diving in 1971 and was active for 25 years, diving in Hawaii and Micronesia. I doubt that I'll ever dive again. I've moved back to the mainland, and diving quarries just doesn't seem worthwhile. I still enjoy talking about diving, though.

Re: Intro
Hey Aaron, I've done Blackbeards 3 times. It's a great bargain! The food is good, the crew is usually great. Not much privacy though. It's kind of like camping at sea. If you just want to dive and don't care about a bunch of fancy amenities then by all means do it. Depending on the time of year you go the crossing from Miami to the Bahamas can be a

NEW LION - Diving in San Diego
Hi I know that there are several diving opportunities in San Diego. A google search would turn up many opportunities. When I was there, I dived with Blue Escape: http;//[link] You can read my diving exeperience at: [link] Not a very good account, because I come from a tropical country where waters never go below 22 degrees centigrade, and I was diving only in early spring!

Re: New waterlady
Well I think you and my wife would get along. She is a diver and is tried of dressing up like a seal in an all black wetsuit. So anything you could do that would allow divers to have more personlaized gear and still get the performance they expect would be awesome. In the meantime, dont forget about us guy divers, we buy most of the gear out

Tim, Take care of yourself first. Then you can surf the net under scuba to find your specialty and lock in those finds. Next I would find books on the subject of scuba. There is a Best Publishing Co. that has a big collection of scuba diving even tech diving as others. I just bought a CD that has the NOAA Diving manual on it.
