diving equipments are carried by the diver
All diving equipments are carried by the diver, independent of any support or supply of oxygen from elsewhere. The diver propels underwater with the use of fins or flippers attached to the feet. The word ?SCUBA? is actually an acronym for ?Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus?. [link]

Haven't been here for many years ..just checked in to see what was happening. Last time I was here there was some proposed split with tech divers going one way and bubble blowers another. It was at the time the Cockle pickers were drowned in Morecambe Bay. Was it a million years ago or does it seem

I did make the swap yesterday, it screwed on tight and doesn't leak in the bath. So I think it is worthy of a further trial in deeper water. Steve

Yes, I am still here. Read every day but rarely post. I did have rather a good weekend at Plymouth earlier on this year, organised by Jason. I would have missed it if it hadn't been posted here. Can't be doing with them myself, uk.rec.caving has gone the same way. All the best TonyL Swindon. UK PS Apologies to Gordon who got this in his inbox by mistake.

Soaking a rubber console in HOT water often helps the process -Don (from the colonies)

Re: HP Hose swap
Press the instrument out of the rubber block from the back. It will be very difficult because of dried salt and other grot, but it will come out. Don't be tempted to prise it out with a knife or screwdriver unless you are prepared to wreck the console. Cliff.

HP Hose swap
Hi, Can anyone tell me how to swap a HP hose? Its on my Apeks console, and I want it on my Cobra computer. The problem is, I can't see how to get it off the Apeks. I can't even see the fittings so I don't yet know if they're the same as the Cobra. Its an old Apeks console, looks like a solid block of rubber. There's a

Re: Nylon strap & fastex Buckles
Tried actually ringing any dive shops and asking yet? I want to make a couple of quick fitting straps for my scuba kit. To do this need to get hold of the 1" wide nylon (polypropylene ?) webbing strap, and 1" fastex buckles. Does anybody know a source for the webbing (strap) and fastex Buckles ? Know what I want to make just not sure where to get the bits.

Re: Good Mask De-fogger?
I would not use toothpaste .. that is an abrasive and scratches teh lens ... and no way I want to do that on a new expensive mask. There is a company in UK that makes a new mask Preparation product ... a couple of drops removes all traces of silicon mould release (which is what causes much of fogging)

Loads of gear for sale
Hi all Four dive couples have decided to call it a day on the diving front and have lots of their personal gear for sale. In addition they have ceased to run a kids swimming club and have the dive masks, fins and snorkels for sale (38 sets at time of writing!) which would be ideal for a similar venture.

I reckon the glass just gets dirty and then the condensation binds to it. Certainly making sure the mask is clean solves the problem and it doesn't need toothpaste etc unless new.
